Handball – EHF Champions League
A STORY IN PICTURES
Six professional photographers and over 60,000 photographs – the end product, the official VELUX EHF Champions League Photobook.
It may sound simply in theory but in reality it was a huge project that took many months to complete. The Photobook covers the whole season, focusing in particular on the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne. Many hundreds of photographs show the emotion and excitement of the season, and take a look behind the scenes of the biggest club handball event of the year.
The aim of the project was to photograph handball from new angles. Remote controlled cameras were positioned under the roof of the arena, photographers ran in with the teams onto the court and the series of photographs from the winners’ ceremony were planned right down to the last second.
The emotional presentation of the trophy to FC Barcelona was photographed from five completely different angles around the arena.
The end product is a high quality book with hundreds of photographs from the photographer team of Richard Walch, Marcel Lämmerhirt, York Dertinger, Uros Hocevar, Manuel Ferrigato und Christian Stadler. So far there has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the final product.
