America’s Cup
For the first time Germany will sail for the America’s Cup – the oldest sailing trophy in the world. It took 156 years until now until the United Internet Team Germany as the first German campaign interferes in the races aiming at the trophy. A sensation which causes uproar – not only in the sailing community.
The reader of this book will be able to revive the special moments once again. Fascinating picture of the German yacht, the sailors and the team in the background dominate the book on 160 pages. All the important events like the first races in 2005 in Valencia, Malmö and Trapani, the races in 2006 in Valencia, the Roadshow of GER 72 in the summer of 2006 as the German Sailing Grand Prix in Kiel as a climax and the preparation for the crucial races in spring 2007 – all these moments are documented with beautiful pictures.
While working with the team, Richard Walch became part of the team. He therefore got the opportunity to document from a different point of view, which was from the inside. The special depiction of the United Internet Team Germany is underlined by the exclusive layout of the book. As in the America’s Cup, where technique and design are on the highest level, the book’s optical characteristics shall meet the highest standards as well.
The photos are accompanied by texts of the journalist Frank Neumann. The foreword was written by Ralph Dommermuth, CEO of the main sponsor United Internet. Without his commitment a German America’s Cup team would have remained a dream.
